Health and social care

SCCCC thrives on its strong links with the community and enjoys a unique position in the city, working in partnership with the Sheffield City Council and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, whilst also being supported by churches from all denominations and voluntary sector organisations.

Through a range of schemes we fit comfortably into the wide and complex range of services that support older people in Sheffield today. Our combination of flexibility and a genuine willingness to help has meant that SCCCC has enjoyed 50 years of success.

The support we provide is varied but always targeted and very often plays a significant role in ensuring that older people are able to leave hospital sooner.

A dedicated team of SCCCC volunteers and staff are the backbone of this valuable work and dedicate their time to providing a helping hand to older people who may have nobody else to turn to for practical or friendly support.

SCCCC are able to help local authorities and health services meet their obligations under the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012. We can offer clear value for money, measurable proven impact and improved social return on investment.

Suzy France, Occupational Therapy Assistant at STH Northern General Hospital says:

“SCCCC are always extremely polite, caring and understanding, always putting respect for patients first along with patient safety. We could not function without them!”
