Telephone Support Service - Volunteers required
Do you love to chat on the telephone?
Can you spare an hour a week to talk to an older person?
We are looking for volunteers who can chat to an isolated older person on a regular basis.
What would volunteering on the telephone support service entail?
Unfortunately, it’s not just a case of picking up the telephone and ringing an isolated, older person. Due to the need to safeguard these vulnerable service users, we need to put checks in place.
Therefore, we would ask that you complete a volunteer application form. This includes a request for two references and a DBS check (paid for by us) you will then be given an induction and training (via Zoom) to assist you with any difficult situations that might arise from the conversations you may have with a service user.
How long will it take to get me up and running as a volunteer?
Due to the requirement of references and a DBS check, this can take a few weeks to obtain. Therefore, please be patient, it is important that we get the right people to support our older service users.
What commitment is required?
We know that life is busy and circumstances can change from month to month. But by committing to just 1 hour a week you can provide an older, isolated person with the vital social connections they need.
