Do you have some time to spare?
Do you have a passion for making a difference?
Why not become a Trustee?
SCCCC has been helping older people in Sheffield since 1966. Throughout our long history, our trustees have helped guide the way. Made up of local volunteers who give their time, skills and experience to oversee the general control and management of the administration of SCCCC, our Trustees make a vital contribution to our work.
With the growth of SCCCC we are now seeking new trustees to join our board of trustees. This is an important and exciting time to join the SCCCC board. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there has been an unprecedented need for our services. Our Hospital to Home Scheme and Good Neighbours Schemes have both seen large increases in demand and we are supporting thousands of older people each year. However, we couldn’t do any of this vital work without our board of trustees. The experience and engagement of our board is central to our success.
Our friendly and dynamic board of trustees provide invaluable guidance, leadership and skills to support our work and we now want to recruit people to our trustee board who have different skills and backgrounds and who bring a desire to make a real difference, so that we can enhance the board’s effectiveness.
We need people to help SCCCC achieve its mission and ensure that the charity is effectively managed.
We are looking for trustees with skills and/or experience in any of the following areas:
- recent lived experience of using services that support older people
- being from or working with minority or marginalised groups
- information technology - particularly in relation to online communications (eg websites, social media, etc)
- human resources
- fundraising
- marketing - either in the private, public or not-for-profit sectors
- working within the NHS
- work experience in health or social care
- experience of volunteering/working in the voluntary sector
- community engagement
We are actively seeking to bring more diversity of perspectives and experience to our board that better reflects the Sheffield community in terms of ethnicity, age and socio-economic and professional backgrounds and we especially welcome expressions of interest from ethnic minority people as these are currently under-represented on our board.
You do not necessarily need previous board experience. You will receive a full induction and will be supported by other Board Members and the Chief Executive in your role.
The board usually meets 4 times a year with 4 sub committees also meeting quarterly. Each trustee sits on one of the sub-committees.
If you are excited by our work, share our values and are willing to play an active part in the work of our board, securing the continued success of our award-winning services then we would love to hear from you. Send an expression of interest to our Chief Executive, Mark Storey at mark.storey@scccc.co.uk and we will contact you for an informal conversation about the role.
