For over 60 years, SCCCC has been here for older people, offering friendship, support, and practical help when it’s needed most.
At SCCCC, we believe everyone deserves to feel supported in later life. Many of the older people we help have no one else to turn to. Your gift can change that.
We’ve been able to make a difference thanks to the generosity of people like you. Some of our most transformative moments have been possible because of gifts in Wills from supporters who wanted their kindness to continue beyond their lifetime.
A legacy gift, whatever the size, is a powerful statement of your values. It says:
“I believe older people in Sheffield and Doncaster deserve dignity, care, and connection.”
Thank you for considering this special way to make a lasting difference.

Leave a Gift in Your Will
In 2016, about a third of our income came from gifts in Wills, so this income source is extremely important and valuable to SCCCC. Leaving SCCCC a legacy in your Will is a great way to support our care services for the older people in Sheffield and Doncaster.
There are four types of legacy to consider:
Pecuniary Gift
is a sum of money left to a charity in a Will
Residuary Gift
is a gift of the remainder of an estate once all other beneficiaries have been provided for
Specific Bequest
is a gift of a named item. For example, a painting
Contingent benefit
is a gift that is dependent on other factors, such as the donor outliving all other beneficiaries
How do I leave a legacy?
In order to leave a charitable legacy. you must have a Will. A Will is a legally binding document that will ensure that your wishes are fulfilled. It is not enough to inform family and friends that you intend to leave a gift to a charity after your death. If you do not have a Will, your solicitor can help you write one. However, if you do have one, and decide later to leave a charitable legacy, you can add a codicil (a short amendment) to your existing Will. This should detail the gift and the full name and charity number of the organisation you would like to benefit.
If you are donating to SCCCC in your Will, our full name is:
Sheffield Churches Council for Community Care CIO Charity number 1168077
Donating to SCCCC in your Will allows your money to make a significant difference to the futures of others after you have gone.

- Give your solicitor our details:
SCCCC Registered Charity No: 1168077, Address: Unit 19 President Buildings, Savile Street East, Sheffield, S4 7UQ - Suggested wording for your Will:

I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or other proper officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my Executors.” - Consider telling us – so we can thank you and keep you updated.
Donate in Memory
Making a donation in memory of a friend or loved one is a special way to celebrate their life and values, while making a real difference to older people in Sheffield and Doncaster.
There a lot of ways of donating to SCCCC in memory of a friend or loved one:
By setting up a tribute page online to invite one-off or monthly donations along with messages of remembrance from friends and family. Donations come directly to SCCCC, so paperwork is kept to a minimum.
Hold a collection at the funeral or request donations instead of flowers. Funeral directors can help to arrange this. If inviting donations at the funeral, SCCCC can provide Gift Aid envelopes.
Taking part in a sponsored event can also be a fitting way to remember someone special. Find out about joining our range of sponsored events across the country.

Margaret’s Story
When Margaret passed away, she left a legacy to SCCCC in gratitude for the support she received after leaving hospital. Her gift funded a year’s worth of volunteer visits to lonely older people in Sheffield – hundreds of conversations, shared cups of tea, and friendships formed.
“Mum always said she wanted to help others the way SCCCC helped her. Her gift has kept her kindness alive.”
Margaret’s daughter This is made up! Have we got something we can refer to from our previous gifts in wills received?
We can’t take our wealth with us – but we can leave behind love, care and community.
